Sun salutation energy art.
This painting is entitled ‘Salute To The Sun’.
Sun Salutation Energy Art Inspired by Movement and Breath
The Sun represents the physical and spiritual heart of the world.
This sun salutation energy art is inspired by the practice of honouring the sun through movement, breath, and presence.
We salute the Sun to give thanks for a new day filled with life-giving light and sustenance.
The Energy of Sun Salutations
The sequence of sun salutations is a complete practice in itself.
The poses lengthen, strengthen, flex, and extend the main muscles of the body while distributing prana (life force) throughout the system.
This sun salutation energy art reflects that flow of energy moving through the body in rhythm with breath.
Inner Sun and Solar Energy Activation
The sequence awakens the energy of the Inner Sun that lies dormant in the navel centre, where the third chakra (solar plexus) is located.
It warms the body, cultivates inner fire, and builds vitality.
Sun salutations are a staple in yogic practice – they quicken the blood while calming the mind.
Movement, Breath and Meditation in Flow
Sun salutations serve as meditation in movement.
They reduce stress, anxiety, and depression while building mental focus, concentration, and awareness of breath.
Movement and breath become one:
- inhale expands the spine
- exhale folds and grounds the body
This sun salutation energy art captures that union of movement, breath, and awareness.
Beach Grounding and Embodied Practice
In this painting, the Salute to the Sun takes place at the beach – grounding the body on the sand and moving toward the sun with flowing physical expression.
I practice this often when I need movement to quiet the mind, start the day, or shift energy.
The colours reflect both the coastal setting and the internal state of calm vitality.
Personal Inspiration Behind the Artwork
At the time I painted this, I had taken several trips to Ocean Grove, a small coastal town just south of Geelong.
I stayed in a cabin at a caravan park, just over the sand dunes from the beach.
There I felt deeply connected to the universe – spending long days in sun salutations, meditation, good company, nourishing food, and grounding.
Final Reflection
This sun salutation energy art holds the essence of movement as medicine – where body, breath, and nature come together in harmony.
It is a reminder of vitality, presence, and connection to the sun.
